Ascensia Contour By darkknight on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I liked this when I got it because it had 10 sample strips lancets and the one in the store had only 5. I was concerned it was not as small as I wanted but for the price I would rather have it work well than optmize the small size. i can carry it in my purse. The memory makes it easy to track via computer my glucose levels and show my doctor when I go to get a checkup.

The Ascensia Contour feels more like a piece of technology and less like a piece of home medical equipment, which makes it fun. The spectre of diabetes hanging over me is less a pall than just a fact of life with a nice home accessory like this. I don't like working with the blood so the coding elision in the design is very pleasing. The pre and post meal marking is a good feature for me to see which meals really work versus those that are touted as glucose friendly.

I would wonder if I could compare real medical tests more frequently with the results to estimate accuracy with more confidence. Otherwise this makes a great monitor. It's a bit pricey but possibly with repayment through a plan it would make more sense.

These were just on sale at CVS. My mom is diabetic. She did not like this meter though.
