Assassin's Creed

Reviewing: Xbox 360 Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed was undoubtedly one of the biggest releases of 2007 due to the game's incredible ambition. While the title does some pretty amazing things, it all also misses the mark in a few key areas.

First off, the scale of the game is breathtaking. You can run and leap across the rooftops and through the streets of three humongous cities, as well as a small village and all of the land in-between. You play as Altair, an assassin, and you get to hunt your targets in this vast world and use your head to approach them from all different angles. Want to use stealth? Go ahead! Want to drawn your sword and charge in slashing? You can do that to!

The enemy AI is very important in a game like this and sadly is arguably its biggest flaw. Enemy guards are oblivious, even when you're killing people right next to them.

Second, the investigation taks - pickpocketing, eavesdropping, interrogating - grow very repetitive very fast.

All that said, Assassin's Creed is worth checking out, just don't believe the hype.
