Atonement

Atonement is based on the best-selling book by Ian McEwan. This film was nominated for best picture of the year. Atonement is set in 1935 England and lasts through WWII. Its the story of a young girl who witnesses a growing relationship between her sister and a young man. She does not understand what she's seeing then through a series of events that she witnesses concludes that he is a bad person.She then tells a lie that changes the lives of herself, her sister, and the young man.It's a lie that has a tragic ending for all who are involved. This movie stars Saoirse Ronan, Keira Knightley, James McAvoy, and Brenda Blethyn. The title is so named for how the girl longs to atone for what she did and the outcome of the lie she told.

Overall, this movie starts out a little slow but turns into one of the better movies I have seen in a while.
