The Audio Technica AT2020 is a condenser microphone suitable for vocals or acoustic guitar. I find that the microphone is a good entry level microphone for burgeoning singer-songwriters who want to record with their personal computer. With a pre-amp, the AT2020 responds very well with a low noise floor, while still capturing the ambiance of the room and the added natural reverberations from the guitar and voice itself. I would recommend getting a pop-screen in order to cut down the plosives while singing, but this natural with any microphone. As with any condenser microphone, the AT2020 is very gentle. You cannot abuse it as you would a dynamic microphone, like the Shure SM58, without having the thing get damaged. As long as you take good care of the AT2020, it will serve you well and make an absolutely wonderful cheap condenser microphone (which are hard to come by)!
