Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery By shulockabaulugy on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

One of my favorite movies of all time and a great and intelligent parody/homage to the British super spy movies. There's a lot more here than just juvenile sex jokes, although there is certainly a lot of those, too. Austin Powers is brought out of cryogenic storage to defend the world against Dr. Evil. Both have been gone for quite some time and are equally out of the loop in the late 90's. The movie has it's finger on the pulse of so much and gets it all right: observations of the 60's, the 90's, Bristish spy movies, and mad scientists who want to control the world. Austin Powers is a great character to explore all of these things because he is slightly daft in his own sense, but he has an earnestness about him which manages to give his observations humor mixed to naive tenderness.
