Avatar

Avatar is written anddirected by James Cameron (Titanic and the Terminator series). It stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang.

This 2009 movie, recently released on DVD and Blu-ray, tells the story of a paralyzed veteran, Sully, who goes into space basically to earn money for his medical situation. What he finds when he gets to a moon called Pandora is that he will be working for a company who wants to mine this moon for a mineral called Unobtanium. Unfortunately, this moon is inhabited by a race of people who are similar to humans only they are tall, blue, and have a tail. Sully must find a way to keep his company from destroying this race while falling for one of the women who lives there.

This is one of the best movies I have seen in awhile. It is entertaining and action packed. The plot is good. The special effects are very well executed. I am not surprised that it won 3 Oscars for Best Achievement in Art Direction, Best Achievement in Cinematography, and Best Achievement in Visual Effects. It was nominated for another 6 awards such as as Best Movie of the Year and Best Director.

This movie is rated PG-13 for violence and language.
