Reviewing: Aveeno Oatmeal Bath Treatment
Purchased at: Walgreens     Price: $8.00 USD

I was walking through a beautiful forest area and happened to brush up against some poison ivy.I am very allergic to poison ivy and this time was no exception.I bought this bath treatment because it was recommended to me as a way to soothe the itching.

I added the packet to my bath water, under the faucet, as the tub filled with warm water. You want to fill it with warm water because you are going to be sitting in it for at least 15 minutes. Make sure you do this slowly so the oatmeal will dissolve in the water.I still had to stir the water around with my hand to break up the little clumps floating on top of the water.I soaked for 20 minutes.

Be careful when you stand up because the tub will be slippery. I gently patted off the water on my skin with a towel.Make sure you don't rub off the oatmeal, just gently pat your skin dry.I really liked this product and would highly recommend it .

I use this for my daughter when the eczema flairs up on her back and it works great - it soothes and stops the irritation.

I love the Aveeno line, and the colloidal oatmeal bath treatments are also good for use in the facials I use twice weekly because it's already ground into a fine powder. Mix about 4 tbsp of the aveeno with about 1 tsp peroxide and about 1 tbsp honey (I've never actually measured the ingredients out), then add in water until you have a thin paste. Apply it to your face and let sit for 15 minutes, then wash off. It removes dead skin (oatmeal), clears your pores (peroxide) and moisturizes (honey).

Love this stuff and it really does help. But no longer buy it. I make my own. I cut old hose legs into 3 sections each then knot an end and pour oatmeal in the knot the top. Much cheaper and works just as well.

This stuff is wonderful for that! And my husband EVERY year manages to get it bad enough to have to have a dose pack, but the rest of us find comfort in using Aveno and hairspray to cure ours ;)

My mom always had this in our house when we were growing up. My one sister had skin problems and this product was the only thing back then. It worked all those years ago and I always recommend it to other parents. Our Pediatrician always recommended an oatmeal bath for chicken pox relief.
