Baby Bee Clean
By Jessica Yamaguchi on I love Burt's Bee's Products ! I haven't tried one yet that I haven't liked so naturally when our newest family member arrived we decided to go with the Burt's Bee's Baby Bee Products. Especially with how sensitive a babys skin is.There are a number of things that I really like about this particular product.
I think the most important one to me is that it is98.47% Natural.
The Baby Bee Buttermilk Soap cleanses, moisturizes, and calms irritated skin with mild, gentle NATURAL ingredients.
INGREDIENTS
vegetable soap base, glycerin, honey, buttermilk powder, avena sativa (oat) kernel meal, fragrance
A word about buttermilk-
I really didnt know anything about buttermilk and its usage in skin care products but it sounded interesting so I went to Burts Bees website to investigate.
Apparently buttermilk is higher / richer in fats and emollients than whole milk and it has been used for centuries as a natural, skin cleanser and softener.
Oat flour is used in this soap to help calm any irritated skin.
The Honey and glycerin moisturize.
Burts Bees also uses 100% natural preservatives instead of parabens . Reading Burts Bees website they say Some parabens are potential endocrine disruptors, meaning that they may interfere with the bodys hormone system.
DIRECTIONS
(This of course is used like you would use any other kind of bar soap!)
Create a lather and gently wash your baby's entire body, avoiding the eyes.
PACKAGING
Burts Bees clearly marks all of their packaging with what they call a natural bar which very clearly tells you exactly how natural that specific product is. For Baby Bee Buttermilk Soap it says 98.47%
This soap comes in a 3.5oz , cream colored ,circle shaped bar. The bar is approximatly 2.5 inches in diameter. There is a light fragrance that smells a lot like a baby fresh scent with what seems like a hint of apricotI know it sounds different but it is very light and it is pleasant.
WHEN WE USE THIS SOAP
We started using this soap to bathe our son when he was a newborn, even his first bath!
When I had my older children they used anti-bacterial DIAL at the hospital this may be ok..I mean theyve been doing it for years but we wanted something gentler and more natural. I had a C-section and was in recovery when they were going to give baby his first bath . We had brought a bar of this Baby Bees soap with us so my husband stopped the nurse and asked her to use the Baby Bees instead. They did and we were happy .
When we bathe baby, we lather up a wash cloth, it's just easier for us to wash the little guy this way. We find that this soap has a creamy texture, and a light lather, so it doesnt foam up a whole lot but it does a good job. This soap does not feel waxy or oily. It rinses off very easily and doesnt leave a slippery residue on baby. We have found no irritation or drying effects from this soap. We use it to wash his hair (he doesnt really have any) as well as all of his body parts. After his bath we always follow up with Burts Bees Baby Bees Buttermilk Lotion ( this also has the same fragrance) Baby is clean, his skin is soft and he smells wonderful!
NOT JUST FOR BABIES!!!
This soap is NOT just for babies it is suitable for sensitive skin of all ages. My very first experience with this soap was years ago. My Psoriasis are irritated easily by most soaps and body washes. A friend suggested I try the Baby Bees soap so I did and I can say that it never once caused any drying or irritation to my skin or psoriasis areas. It was actually quite soothing. It did seem like it moisturized (lightly) pretty well.granted its not the dry skin cure but it did seem to help.
This is easy to find at most if not all natural food stores. I have seen Walgreen's carry these products. I paid $4.19 for one 3.5oz bar at our small local natural foods market but I have seen it priced and paid anywhere from $3.49 to $4.99 for one bar.
I would recommend this Burts Bees Baby Bees Buttermilk soap for anyone who has sensitive skin or just wants to use a more natural soap, but especially for babies!
We still use it and still love it.

I received a gift basket filled with Burt's Bee products. buttermilk Soap was included. I loved it with the first use. It is very creamy and lathers very well. But what I love most is it never left a residue on my skin. So many soaps do. This, at least for me, causes my skin to tighten and feel very uncomfortable. I find this at Long's here in Sacramento for about $3.19-sometimes less.
What a great sounding soap! I have dabbled in one or two Burt's Bee products and really like their ingredients. Good stuff!
Looks like a nice gentle mild natural soap. I would be happy to use it .
I never knew Burt's Bees made baby products also! Now I can't wait for the next baby shower invite I get!
This sounds wonderful. Like giving spa treatment to baby! Love it.
Amazingly I have yet to try Burt Bee's products. I keep hearing good things about them. This soap sounds great, I love that its so natural. We will have to try it out!
I love Burt's Bee's products! I should try this for my son, he has really sensitive skin.
