Last summer we drove out to South Dakota. One of my family's favorite stops was at Badlands National Park. The Badland's exit is off of I-90, and about 15 or so miles off the exit.

The Badlands is a beautiful and breathtaking park. The formations are amazing. You can either drive straight through the park, but I would not recommend it. What we did was we stopped at a number of look out points and walked around them. Some of the look out points were beautiful, others I will admit were not so spectacular.

One of the look out areas we walked along the trail. This trail was a long trail, with hills and stairs, but it was worth it. We saw a family of deer munching in the field. We came across little chipmunks and although we personally never saw one, we saw many watch out of Rattlesnake signs!

We went early on in the morning and the weather was perfect. I can see though how it would get very hot in the summer time during the peak of the afternoon. There really isn't any shade anywhere. I would recommend early morning or late evening for a visit. I did see a lot of hikers out early in the morning, which is probably the best time to hike.

I did see an area where you can camp right in the Badlands.

We didn't camp, so I can not give any good or bad points about it.

We did eat at the place right next to the campground and the food was decent.

We loved the Badlands, they truly are beautiful, the wonders of Nature. If you are out in South Dakota, you must make a stop and take a look at the Badlands. You would not want to leave this state without seeing these amazing formations!
