If you've ever wanted to try canning your own jams, jellies, pickles and sauces at home, this kit is a great way to get started. The Ball Home Canning Kit comes with a 21 quart waterbath canning pot, wire canning rack, jar-lid lifter, bubble-freer spatula, canning funnel, canning tongs, $10 worth of coupons for Ball products, and the excellent "Ball Home Canning Basics" book.

The book will tell you everything you ever needed to know about safely home canning foods, as well as methods for freezing and dehydration. It's a great read and includes a lot of delicious recipes to try.

The canning pot and rack can hold up to seven pint or quart jars at a time. My only real complaint is that the rack can be a little hard to steady at times, and the wire doesn't seem terribly strong.

All in all, this is a great kit to help anyone get started at canning their own foods. It's fun, easy and a great way to keep the summer/fall harvests.
