Bamboo Garden Torches
By DeDee on - Updated Sep 18, 2011Last year my husband and I decided to revamp our backyard. We spent lots of money and lots of time and we still felt like something was missing. One evening we were out siting and enjoying our new backyard, when we started to get bit alive by mosquitos. This is when we came up will purchasing these awesome torches. We purchased 10 of them. We placed them around the backyard. Not only did it add the final touch but the citronella oil to light the torches helped compat the pesky mosquitos. These torches are cheap to buy. The come with refillable fuel canisters, adjustable wicks and stand 5 feet tall. As you can see by the picture they are not hitious to look at either. In fact we found them to add romance with enough light to relax you and not to bright to have the neighbours complain. Perfect for anyone who loves sitting out in their backyard and relaxing.
Update On Apr 13, 2008: My friend was telling me the other day that she saw some of these at a dollar store. Don't know how good they are but for anyone wanted them for a weekend use. This may be a good way to go too.

You are right about how they relax you as we have some in our backyard too.
I love the look of burning bamboo torches at night, it reminds me of being on a tropical island. Now the problem I have with them besides the safety issue of the open flame is the smeel of the citronella oil. I see why mosquitos dislike it so much but it tends to give me a headache.
These are a great addition to your backyard..or my backyard LOL. I love these because like you said the citronella oil keeps those pesky bugs away. I think it definitely adds soft lighting and makes for a romantic setting. Unless of course your neighbors are looking out the window! Only problem we have had with our tiki lamps is that they don't weather well in the snow. We always forget to put them away and end up buying new ones each spring. You think we would actually learn our lesson, but guess what? We have to replace them once again this year!
I love seeing these lit on a hot summer night! Oh how I long for warmer weather.....!!
I have seen these and wanted to get them but wasn't sure. I did not know they could help with the bugs. Thanks so much for the info. I am definitely getting them this year!
we have these all around our gazebo, we even found some that were glass that look really nice. The only thing I do not like is they have to be refilled pretty often.
I love the lighting these give off. Just right and looks great next to the patio!
Great idea to keep those bugs away. And not a bad price either.
I am a big fan of tiki torches, I love them! And yuck...those pesky mosquitos they are horrible aren't they?! Glad to hear you were able to kill two birds with one stone: get rid of the mosquitos and add some very cool, relaxing lighting to your backyard. :o)
