Bamboo rug
By Chris Kong onAfter using this bamboo area rug, I have given away all my old carpets because in tropical climate a carpet on the floor gives me a very hot feeling around the house and carpets are very diificult to maintain in terms of hidden mites. dust and dirt.
Strong points: Bamboo rugs are ecological friendly because they are not like hardwood which takes ages to grow. Bamboo only takes a year to reach the height of more than ten feet or more. Hence savng our forests too. The thoughtful manufacturer have stuck a non slip backing at the back of the bamboo rug to keep the rug in place on the floor. The surface is hand-sanded to give the it a smooth and fine finishings. The best thing is, to clean the bamboo rug is super easy as compared to carpets. You just need to use a damp cloth or a mop to mop the surface.
Weak point: The colour do fades away after continous use.

This sounds wonderful! I know when I get rid of my carpet, I want to get a bamboo floor.
These are so nice Chris! My parents were born in South America & all they had in their homes were bamboo rugs & you are so right-the color does tend to fade over time.
Had never thought of a bamboo rug, but going to look into it now. Thanks
Bamboo rugs sound like a great alternative to regular carpet rugs. I like the eco-friendly aspect of this product. Thanks for the information!
I have seen this rugs in catalogs. I think I would prefer a regular carpet though. Seems like they would feel hard to your bare feet.
Nice for certain applications even for those of us who don't live in the tropics. US$ 1 = RM 3.80 (Malaysian Ringgit)
This sounds great. I am always looking for cool ways to decorate. This would be perfect for my bathroom.
We had a rug just like this when I was in college. It looked really nice but it bunched up a lot on us, or rolled up actually.
I like the fact that it has a non-stick backing. The bamboo mats that I often see has no backing at all hence, it tends to slip under you once you step on it. I live in the tropics too and bamboo is used here for almost everything, from furnitures to cooking to eating. Just add a little creativity and you could use that for more than just a rug perhaps a table mat or if it's longer a table runner. That would give you a touch of tropical look even if most of the people here are in temperate climates.
Never heard of bamboo rugs. Might be better than carpet! :)
