Barbie Mariposa Magic Wings

Most little girls are Barbie fans at some point in their childhood. My little one is just now getting to that stage and frequently asks for the newest Barbies and their movies that are out. Her most recent request was for the Barbie Mariposa Magic Wings doll. Now just so their is no confusion, this is the Mariposa doll with the very large wings not the doll with the small fairy wings.
I bought this Barbie at a great deal considering she had just came out. Plus she came with a $3 coupon so you could purchase her movie and a cute poster for the wall. Pretty good deal in itself and Barbie is always great fun for little girls who love her.
Anyway, we brought this doll home and opened the package and I proceeded to assmble her since her wings were not attached yet. I quickly learned that she was a waste of money. The wings are very hard to get latched into the plastic mechanism and once they were attached they would just randomly fall off during playing. Very disappointing.
After the first day my daughter just completely removed the wings and threw them down and now just plays with the doll. She was very disappointed in this doll as was I. I have bought hundreds of Barbies but never one with such poor quality. I do not recommend buying this one for your little girl and would suggest if Mariposa is greatly wanted that you go with the doll with the small fairy wings instead.
Good information to know since my daughter is just now getting into Barbie.
I looked at one of those dolls a friend's little girl had. She had just gotten it and was showing it off. Those wings did look awful flimsy. I had thought to myself, those wings will never last. I guess you confirmed that thought. Thanks for sharing your experience.
We bought this too and were just as disappointed. We also bought the wings for my girl to wear, they tore on the first wearing. The quality is just not like it used to be.
When I first saw the picture it looked very cute. It would have had me fooled. Thanks for warning all of us. I can't believe that it would randomly jsut fall apart like that. Hmmm...
Thanks for the honest information. The picture is so pretty and I am really surprised that the quality was so bad. Barbie has been around since I was a little girl.
Well, I personally do not like Barbie and never have (not even as a little girl). I've seen these advertised though and they did look cool...even to me an anti-Barbie person :0) Sorry they did not hold up to your and your daugher's expectations
That is a very pretty looking Barbie! I just love the wings and all that color! Am I too old to get one of these for myself? ;)
Aww, that is horrible that the wings fall off. This is a beautiful barbie. Thanks for the warning on it. I can't believe that barbies are still so popular but they really need to improve the quality to keep up with the newer toys out now
