Basic Soap By numero9 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Basic bar soap is a competitor in the mild bar soap business. I was rather unfamilar with this product until a few weeks ago, when I noticed that it was considerably cheaper than competitors Cetaphil and Purpose. Basic contains some natural active ingredients as an anti-bacterial, and it mildly helps clear skin in the process without "harsh chemicals" such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Some people are leery of using these products on their skin because of their synthetic nature, which makes Basic a good contender for these kinds of people. The soap itself is in a basic bar form and creates a generous lather that is comparable to Purpose and Cetaphil. My only real complaint with the soap was its initial texture. It was rather sticky right out of the package, which made me a bit leery of the product until I used it.
