I first purchased this insecticide a few years ago as I have had a problem with carpenter ants hanging around the house especially in the bathroom area. I basically apply it around the foundation and it does a good job of keeping them at bay. The product is also effective against termites which is an added bonus as far as I am concerned. A couple of years ago I also had a gang of bee's make a nest underneath one of my fruit trees in the middle of the back yard and also one on the property line. I saturated the areas and that did the trick. As far as environmental harm the small fruit tree died because the insecticide but the bee's fortunately were gone. Considering the damage that carpenter ants cause to a residence I thought the product was well worth the price. My mom also had a problem with carpenter ants and one application around the foundation and steps appears to have taken care of that problem. I would have to rate this product quite effective.
