Be Nice to Me , I am Old....
By Jami onG'day friends. I have another "out of the box" review for you. Remember I told you about my sons AS syndrome, and out of necessity, I have to find quirky teaching tools to help me teach him lifeskills. Trying to teach graciousness and good sportsmanship is like trying to catch smoke. Trivial Pursuit is very useful in helping me to teach these little walking encylopedias a sense of humility. Remember I am old (shhhh, that is very confidental) and I dont always get the answers correct, but when I don't I use it as an opportunity to teach sportsmanship and humility. I can't tell him not to be arrogant..remember the smoke thing..how do you explain arrogance? Social situations are difficult for Aspie kids and this is a very hard thing to teach, but I find if I put my son in these situations at home and he is having fun while he is learning, he forgets about the learning part and will remember the fun.It definitely takes time and paitence but in the end it is all worth it.

These kids are really smart, we just have to figure out how to look at things from their perspective.
