Beautiful Dolphin Votive Holder
By crunkyjens onI received this beautiful votive holder from my boyfriend a couple of years ago.He got it in a tourist gift shop in Matlacha, on Pine Island, FL so I'm not sure of the price. It is very unique and everyone always asks me where I got it when they see it.
Inside of the jar there is sand, and then dolphins suspended in a blue colored gel to look like they are in the water. My picture doesn't do it justice, sadly.Inside of the candle holder there is another little glass insert down in the blue gel that you can set a votive in.I was really leary about putting a candle in it because I knew when I burned it it would melt down into the holder and get stuck, but I also wanted to put a candle in it and use it because it was too beautiful not to.My mom actually came up with the perfect solution for my little dilemma. She found these little battery powered fake votives. When you turn them on they flicker to give the appearence of being an actual candle.
The little fake votives fit in perfectly to my holder.I've used them so much that the batteries have died so I need to get new ones so I can continue to light up my candle holder. With the light from the votive it makes a really cool glowing effect within the gel too that you can notice when you have the lights off, or at least dimmed.
The last time I was in this gift shop myself they had a couple different votice holders like the one my boyfriend got me, but none of them could compare to my dolphin one.:-)

That is really a stunning candle holder! Hope you find more lights for it.
That is a beautiful votive holder! Your Mom did come up with a great idea on using the battery powered votive!
I need to find this for my sister, she is a huge dolphin collector. This is just beautiful. Thanks.
I love that. It would go perfect in my sea themed bathroom!
So pretty. My sister-in-law would go crazy for it--she loves dolphins. thanks.
This is a beautiful addition to any shelf or mantel. I love dolphins and this certainly something to enjoy and cherish. Thanks for sharing the information about this beautiful piece.
Jen this is very very pretty! I like your workaround for the candle. Clever idea:)
