Bella Changing Tower

Reviewing: Savanna Bella Changing Tower
Purchased at: Jc Penny     Price: $400.00 USD

I ordered this changing table/dresser for our nursery. I also ordered the hutch that sit on top of this changing tower, and the crib that matches. The crib has been wonderful....this changing tower sucked.

I won't go into all the rotten details of how long it took to get this dresser. Let's just say that I ordered it in June and it didn't arrive until October...baby was due in December. Anyway, when it arrived I immediately set about opening the box. The dresser is shipped assembled. Unfortunately, this means that any piece that isn't super sturdy broke. All the drawers were broken - the runner had splintered the side of the drawers, the fronts had split, and the bottoms were useless. The door to the little wardrobe section was so warped that once we opened it, we couldn't get it shut again.

Since the crib was made by the same company, and has proved pretty sturdy, I have a feeling that a large part of the damage was due to the shipping. The materials used to construct this changing table / dresser combo just weren't sturdy enough to withstand shipping while fully assembled. And I know that this one dresser wasn't a fluke, because JCPenney's sent a replacement and it was broken just as badly.

Overall, I love, love, love the look of the piece. However, for $400, I expect at least some quality...at least enough to withstand shipping. I had to replace the replacement with a dresser from Target. I loved the curved, Alice in Wonderland, style of the Bella furniture - but the dresser / changing table combo just wasn't worth the money!

It is beautiful. Too bad you couldn't find one to pick up yourself.

We tried to find one nearby, but the closest was in Reno. At the time, that would have been at least a 11 hour drive & we would have had to rent a truck. Oh well!

What a shame about your experience with your changing tower....

Such a nice piece too bad it is so flawed...and that it didn't even make it to you in one piece, that's sad.

Looks nice, but that shipping fiasco was not to bright on behalf of the shipping industry. Better care can prevent such damage. You would think that they cared...
