Benadryl Gel By Janna on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

My son recently had an allergic reaction to a bug bite and broke out with itchy red and welted skin. Being to young to take liquid Benadryl to stop the itching I had to find a suitable alternative. I was pleased to find Benadryl Stop Itching Gel.

The gel is a histamine blocker as well as a analgesic. Meaning that not only will it stop the itch it will also slightly numb the skin. It is safe to use on children who are two and over. The gel itself is clear and thick, reminiscent of tree sap. The gel has an odor similar to Aspercreme and is very sticky.

Once the gel makes contact with your skin it feels very cool. This did not bother my two year old at all. In fact minutes after I put this gel on his skin the swelling and redness has lessened. Because this product works so well it is a must have for all first aid kits
