Benzi And Diplo Bring Unknown Group Into Spotlight By Dan Smucker on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
The Paper Route Gangstaz are a little know rap group out of Huntsville, Alabama AKA Hunts Vegas. Despite zero name recognition, Diplo and DJ Benzi prove that there's a lot of talent coming out of Bama. With the albums slow beats, catchy hooks and interesting lyrics Fear and Loathing proves to be a hidden gem. Although this is unlike anything else I've heard from Diplo or Benzi, this album really delivers. The groovey opener "Stuntastic" features a great beat focused around a sample from Underground's "Born Slippy". Diplo's remix of "Rollin" mixes a synth heavy beat and a goofy hook to create a song I can't stop listening too. If not sleeping in weeks made me make songs like this, I'd never sleep. "Bama Gettin' Money" is a good song with a banging beat, but the Diplo remix slows the song a little too much. "Hood Celebrity" is one of the catchiest songs I've heard in a long time. I can't stop singing it. The beat is a great mix of classic danceable Diplo and Dem Franchize Boyz.Overall this is a great album. It's perfect for a summer drive with your swisha and syrup.
