Betty Crocker Bake N Fill
By Kakoa onI have always wondered if the Betty Crocker Bake N Fill was as easy as it looked. I never bought one because of the price and the fact that I do not make that many cakes in the first place. I just happened to find it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond on clearance for a great deal and decided to try it.
My first attempt was to make a two flavor ice cream filled cake. It took a few minutes to figure out what pan did what, but once I figured it out, filling the pans was easy. It was a little tricky baking the two layers because they each needed a different time of baking. It was at the same temperature, but I had to keep an ear out for the timer to take the small pan out.
The cake part was easy, the ice cream filling was more difficult. You need the ice cream to be soft and pliable. Once inside the cake, the ice cream did not harden very fast. You need to make the cake the night before serving if you want an ice cream center. The instructions did not tell me that.
The cakes turn out very nice using this kit. The taste is always great, but the process takes time and patience. If you like to bake you will love this product. I would not suggest trying an ice cream cake first though.

I have always wondered how these things work! Another great Bed Bath and Beyond find....I should just apply for a job there, lol.
Fun! I've seen this, but never tried it.
Interesting idea. I will have to look into it. Thanks
My son wants this...maybe I'll get it and make him one for his birthday this month:0)
This sounds like a fun way to make birthday cakes...especially in the summer!!! I actually like that it takes over night so I would be able to have one task done before the big day!
You know, for the price this sounds like something that would be great for someone like me who might want to make a sugar free ice cream cake, which is something that I have not seen available for purchase.
This looks like it might be worth trying-it sounds nice & easy to me!
My son has always wanted me to get one of these, I always thought they would just be way too hard and frusrating for me. I like to bake only when it is easy! LOL It doesn't sound too hard but I think I will just buy an ice cream cake at the store if I need one! :)
Out here a good ice cream cake sets you back around 17.99-$25.00. When you figure out costs, these pans look mighty good Kakoa. I'll give these a try, because we all love ice cream cakes.
This looks like it would be a great way to make treats for very special occasions. But I'm not a fan of pans that are really only useful for one thing. (But of course I have stacks of them anyway!)
