I have been to the Big Island of Hawaii a few times. I love the smell of the flowers and the fresh air. This island is the biggest of all the Hawaiian islands. My most memorable trip there was to see the lava flows at the Hawaii Volcano National Park. After we drove to the helicopter company we were given a short video presentation of what we were about to see. We asked our pilot if we were actually going to see any lava flowing. He said that was just what they tell you, so probably not. As we were flying over the Volcano National Park we thought why did we do this then? Just as we said it there was a bright red and black movement on the land. The lava was flowing down the side of the land and into the ocean. It was amazing. As the helicopter got closer to the lava flow I placed my hand on the window of the helicopter and it was really hot. We angled towards the lava and we could see red hot lava just like the picture above. This island of Hawaii, called the Big Island, is constantly increasing in size. I saw history in the making, the island was growing! There are other activities on this island that I have enjoyed also like scuba diving, hiking to the top of a dormant volcano and watching the sunset. It was an amazing island. Highly recommened.
