Big Man's Mountain Bike By Steven Rupp on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I am a big guy, and I was looking for a beefy bike that would be sturdy, yet not be as heavy as a tank. I did alot of research online, and in stores, and decided on the Raleigh M-55. For $399.00, it had a great mix of quality components, a beefy steel frame, was extremely comfortable to ride, and surprisingly comparatively lightweight. Shimano Acera-X and Alivio brakes and derailleurs are hard to find at this price level. The brakes provide plenty of stopping power, and the shifting is flawless. The aluminum wheels, tires, seat, etc. are all namebrand, and well put together, unlike the generic hodgepodge usually found on a bike of this price. This is an exceptional value. The only thing that didn't impress me was the Duotrack fork. But if you expect a quality, namebrand fork, you can expect to spend several hundreds of dollars more. I highly recommend this bike to any big guy out there looking for a comfortable, reliable, sturdy ride.

I believe I will check into this as I too am a big guy and would destroy your normal ten speed.
