Binoculars 3 D Viewer By bubbacat on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Time to find presents for birthday. I chose a Fisher Price gift, the view-master. I remember having a view-master as a child. I always liked looking through the viewfinder at cartoons like the flintstones. I enjoyed mine very much. Nowadays the children's toys are so technical nothing like the past. The binoculars & 3D Viewer comes with three reels and a storage case with facts. This item is for 3 year olds and up. There is a yellow cord with the viewmaster so you can wear it around the neck so be sure your child is age appropriate. The box states that a child could get entangled in the cord...or simply remove it. The National Wildlife Federation is engraved in the viewmaster. The reels are of dinosaurs which goes along great with some dinosaur books I recently purchased at a yard sale.

The viewmaster is silver in color with purple eyepieces. The reel advance lever is lime green. There is a lime green knob which turns the binoculars into a 3D viewer. The binoculars have 3D magnification of 4X. If your child is like mine, they are very curious and asking many questions at a young age. I use binoculars to look at birds and deer and the kids want to see also. Now they can use their own binoculars too see and use it to view images too. Neat! You can purchase different View-Master reels for this item . Your child will learn facts and see animals while learning names of each in the 3D Viewer. Or, your child will explore right in your own back yard with the binoculars. And it's not even noisy. This is a plus.

I recommend any educational toy that helps a child to open up their mind to learn.

OMG. Take me back to my childhood. I used to have one of these and my sister and I would fight over who got to play with it. Ha! I love it!

I had a viewmaster as a child and loved it.

These are still a great toy and what little boy or girl, for that matter, wouldn't want one like this? I would have loved the dinosaurs when I was little. We had the traditional red one. I believe my friend had a blue one.

I had one and hundreds of reels bought by a doting grandmother from places all over the country. It was very educational, as most tourist places, natural wonders, etc had a reel or two of their features.
