Bioshock
By nuclearshadow onBioshock is the spiritual successor to the system shock series.Bioshock is a FPS (first person shooter). It starts off with a plane crash in which you are aboard. Your the only one to survive and you find a entrance to a underwater city.Of course the city is no doubt in chaos and the action starts off once you arrive.Very quickly you begin to learn the story of the underwater city named Rapture which was built originally to be different then the rest of the world by not abiding by the same moralsand to not limit science in anyway no matter how objectionable.
The most interesting thing about this game is the plasmids which can do anything from firing a bolt of lightening from your hands to freezing the enemy and then shattering them into pieces. However sadly the game takes a very uninteresting twist on getting the plasmids and their upgrades. Many of them are not just found but rather bought from a shop ammo and heals can also be purchased this way through out the game and your never far from one of these vending machines. Making the game quite easy to stay alive. Also the biggestdowner is the fact that if you do happen to die you simply respawn near by so dying has absolutely no consequence.
Still where Bioshock lacks it makes up in other areas such as game play, graphics, and storyline. The game keeps you on your toes almost all the time even the calmest moments are interrupted to shock you and make your adrenaline rush. The graphics are beautifully done and everything blends in quite nicely. The story is by far the best part as it starts you off knowing nothing at all and then learning about Rapture and what happened to it.
This game deserves every praise it gets despite its flaws its still a great and has raised the bar on how FPS should be.
