We needed something smaller, but effective to clean our carpets. We had tried out the Bissell Quicksteamer Lightweight Deep Cleaner from my mother and really liked it. Not only was the price good, it did clean pretty well.
The Bissell Quicksteamer Lightweight Deep Cleaner has six rows of brushes specifically designed to loosen and remove embedded dirt from the carpet. It is ideal for rugs and small areas of carpet. Easy to fill and empty tank. Easy to maneuver wheels.
The only draw back because it is a smaller cleaner is that the storage department for the water is smaller, so I do not recommend using this with a large house or cleaning area. If you have a smaller home (which we do) or smaller areas to clean then use this one! It is great for occasional spills too!

I have a Bissell steamer similar to this and I can not tell you how many times I have used it with kids and pets. It's a real lifesaver, erh, carpet saver.
My mom has a larger steam vac. I really wish we had gotten a smaller one like this since it would be much easier for either of us to use.
