Book Review: Running With Scissors by A. Burroughs
By espressocup onRunning with Scissors is the type of book that will have you cringing, laughing and crying at the same time. It is the story of a young boy who is left with his mother's psychiatrist in the 1960's. His mother is a turbulant person and relies on a very unusual psychiatrist. She has a drinking problem and other unresolved desires that affect her relationships with other people. When reading this story, it is simply mind-blowing to concieve that someone actually lived these experiences and that this is not the work of a very strong fiction writer. It is a tragic story written by a very powerful writer who brings you into the world in such a way that you are engaged in how he must have felt as a young boy surrounded by all of these unbalanced people. It is quite simply, an amazing book.
