Book Review: Running With Scissors By A. Burroughs By espressocup on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Running with Scissors is the type of book that will have you cringing, laughing and crying at the same time. It is the story of a young boy who is left with his mother's psychiatrist in the 1960's. His mother is a turbulant person and relies on a very unusual psychiatrist. She has a drinking problem and other unresolved desires that affect her relationships with other people. When reading this story, it is simply mind-blowing to concieve that someone actually lived these experiences and that this is not the work of a very strong fiction writer. It is a tragic story written by a very powerful writer who brings you into the world in such a way that you are engaged in how he must have felt as a young boy surrounded by all of these unbalanced people. It is quite simply, an amazing book.
