Books By You is an amazing educational software program. I bought Book By You for my nine year old who loves to write. In the first day she wrote a ten chapter book.

With this software, guided by actor John Lithgow, your child will help to write a story. The software reminds me of Mad Libs except much more sophisticated. My daughter was given a basic outline of a story in which she filled in the details, the artwork, and chose the book cover. You can print this all out on your own computer or you can send the information off and Knowledge Adventure will print and bind the book for you (for a fee of course). There are four different stories that your child can learn from.

John Lithgow guides the writer through verbal explanation, video, and fun cartoons. After my daughter finished each chapter she had the option of going back and making whatever corrections she needed. In fact the software will let you rewrite the already programmed storyline, which means that each child can write their own story from being to end.
