Boss Mt 2 Metal Zone Distortion By Yangmun Choi on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

The BOSS MT-2 Metal Zone Distortion Pedal packs a lot of punch. It powers its drive with the use of a 3.5-band equalizer, and what almost feels like a distortion level from fuzzed to piping hot.

Like all BOSS pedals, the MT-2 is encased in a solid steel compartment, can be foot activated, and is conveniently small. It can be powered by either a 9-V battery or with a DC power supply.

This distortion pedal burns. It takes the guitar sound, makes it solid, then turns it to metal, upon which the sound is thrown into the blast furnace to come out as a red hot chunk of tungsten. Of course, the level of distortion can be lowered to a mere fuzzy sound, but it is not overdriven so it is hard to get a smooth sound (but easy to get that low distortion country sound). It has a 3.5 band equalizer: one low frequency knob, one mid-range frequency knob, one to change the range of frequencies the mid-range frequency knob affects, and one high frequency knob. This creates a dynamic output of sound, and can make the sound convincingly bluesy, or just screaming hot.
