Botanical Gardens, Santa Barbara Ca By WarPainted on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Santa Barbara Botanical Gardens is a wonderful spot to spend a day! A rarity in protected garden enclosures, visitors are welcome to bring dogs making it a friendly place to walk for hours with or without your pooch.

Although these gardens are not a national or state park, they are dedicated to educational and scientific exploration and are a wealth of information on the climate changes and natural plants found all over California.

My favorite thing about the Gardens is how it is sectioned off into areas dedicated to every climate so as you walk along the trails, you could be viewing and experiencing plants from any region, even the red woods!

The grounds also offer an extensive environmental library, a nursery with hundreds of species of plants for sale and a wonderful gift shop with items from jewelry to local honey to children's toys!

We recently became members of the Garden's and enjoy their monthly publications and e-newsletter keeping us up to date on the Garden happenings and plant sales.

Discounts for seniors and children, Children under 2 get in free. Open March through October from 9am to 6 pm, and November through February from 9am to 5pm,

Though we have Strbling Arboretum in the City, we have nothing that comes close to this! It is now added, along with your zoo, to my must sees in Santa Barbara.
