Braun Silk Epilator
By ooncha onI was looking for a new epilator, and I heard so many good things about this Braun product so I decided to finally get it. At first I tried to win one on ebay, but it's quite competitive so I just gave in and bought one on Amazon. This product is EXPENSIVE. Originally it's about $75 which I'm not willing to pay but thank goodness for Amazon.com for always lowering prices. I just got this earlier today, and tried it as soon as I said goodbye to my UPS man. The thing is LIGHT. My old epilator is batter powered so it's heavy when I put the batteries in, but this is plug-in one which is good cause I hate buying batteries. The wire is long and I can detach it from the epilator. It also came with a shaver head, it has other heads but it didn't come with the box i ordered. I wish it did though. It only has two speeds, slow and fast. I tried the slower one and it works pretty good! It definitely hurts alot less than my old one, and it's more effective. With one stroke it took out all of the hair! It's really easy to use because of the massage rollers which helps me keep the epilator at a 90 degree angle. The design is attractive and easy and comfy to use. On the switch there's a light to show light the area you're about to pull hairs from. I could without it, but I'm not sure if I can turn it off. One of the things I like is that my hairs don't go everywhere. It mostly stayed inside and it was an easy clean up after i used it. This thing goes really fast, so it was a bit painful in sensitive areas such as the underarms. But it works so well in those areas! So the pain is pretty much worth it. The massage rollers was something different for me, when I was using it on my legs, it kind of tickles haha but its weird because it tickles and yet it kind of hurts. This was difficult to use in tough areas like around my knee. Which is why i wish it came with the other heads so I can reach these areas easily. I probably will hopefully find these heads on ebay. I'll update on this product when I use it again!

I tried these when they first came out many years ago. They have their good points and bad. They do hurt. As to how much I guess depends on your pain level tolerance. lol It did keep hair away for awhile but sometimes on my leg the hair when it came back it would be ingrown and by that I meant there was like a layer of skin over the hair. Anyway I hope they are better nowadays. :)
Yanking out hair by the roots is painful. It wasn't worth it to me but everyone has a different pain threshold.
I don't know. I think those things just hurt more than they're worth. Although, back when I was using one, I did find that they don't hurt as much if you have a glass of wine first, then another while you're doing it. Now I don't drink, though ):
LOL@Laurel!!! (The things women do to look good!)
You're a trooper! All of the epilators I've ever tried were torture!
I just cannot use these things because I can't get past the pain!! You're one brave soul & in the long run, it has worked out for you!
I've always wondered if these were worth the pain.
I had bought one of these things years ago when they came out, Never again would I try them, WOW the Pain. Mine you I was still a teenager then, maybe now I could stand the pain a bit more, but I'm not gutsy enough to try it again just yet.
You seem to be one tough gal, judging from the comments. Glad it's working for you!
