Breathing Life Into Your Characters

Writer's Digest Book Club's Breathing Life Into Your Characters is an excellent book to read when writing a character sketch. Chapter one is about writing about the inside of the character. Chapter two is about the backgrounds of the characters. Next is the character's motivation and creating characters that are different from the writer. Following is finding out what makes both the writer and character tick. After that is creating the villain. Then it talks about emotions of the characters. Next it talks about coping with the character's defense, any family secrets and disorders and troubled personalities. Lastly it talks about the impressions characters make. This is very useful with many different exercises in it. I have used it to help make my character even more real.
