Busy Bugs By donnabc on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

Discovery Toys has some excellant learning toys for younger kids. I actually got this one when I signed up as a consultant. That did not last. But this game came in VERY handy about a year later when my son turned four and went to K-4. It comes with bright colored bugs that kids just LOVE to play with. The cards can be divided into different learning objectives. The simplest would be to locate all of a particular COLOR bug. Or, 2 orange, 2 purple and 2 yellow bugs. The cards are color coded to help with these tasks. Another activity is to learn PATTERNS. Some of the cards have pictures of bugs and as the kids place the matching bugs on their picture, they can determine what bug would be next. One card has a simple addition problem on each side. Finally there is a blank card so you can draw or write in your OWN problems with a dry erase marker or a china pencil. Even after he had mastered the cards, we still used the cool bugs as counters to learn even more addition and subtraction. I HIGHLY recommend this game. It is adaptable and you child will LOVE learning with it:0)

This sounds perfect. What fun motivation to learn things. I agree that kids find bugs fascinating.
