Butterfly In Flight By RachelReviews on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I bought this framed picture a few years ago. There was an artist who was selling her art down in the subway. The picture I bought is of a butterfly. I adore butterflies. I love the variety of colors they come in, their symmetry and their symbolism of metamorphosis.

The picture came framed. The frame is glass and plastic. It has a height of 5 inches and a width of 7 inches. The back of the frame has notches that allow for easy hanging.

The butterfly image is not a drawing or a painting, it is actually a "paper cut-out" that has color added, possibly with water colors. I think that the butterfly cut-out is all one piece.

What makes me think the butterfly is done in one piece is that all the parts of the butterfly look connected: the antennae are attached to the wings, the butterfly's legs are connected to its' swallowtail wings and the swallowtail wings are connected to the bottom wings.

The artwork is attests to the artist's skill and attention to detail. I just love all the lines, curves, dots and dashes she made with expert cuts to the wings and body of the paper butterfly.
