If you are looking for a briefcase that will last you the rest of your life you have to check out the Hartmann leather expandable Zipper Briefcase.
It is pricey at $475, but it is made out of the smoothest leather you will ever feel. I am talking leather so smooth it puts Coach to shame. Seriously!
I got this briefcase in the espresso color, which is a very dark rich brown. The briefcase is very spacious. I can easily fit my laptop in the briefcase along with several different file folders. I have everything at my fingertips when I am making presentations, which I like!
It has a shoulder strap for added comfort when this bag is filled to capacity. As the name states there is also the expandable zipper. The briefcase expands 1.5 inches for added storage space. My hisband actually took this briefcase on a business trip to Florida with him and packed his clothes in the expandable zipper section.
This briefcase might cost a little more then you are thinking of spending, but after having a lot of different cheaper briefcases over the year I am happy to report this briefcase is solid if the last year and a half of daily use have shown me anything it will be with me for decades to come!

This sounds like the big daddy of briefcases. For that price I would want it to last a lifetime! Glad this has worked out so well for you and thanks for sharing but will probably never own one :O(
$475 ouch. I'm sure the leather is soft, but I would hate to have it stolen
It initially is expensive, but when you look at the sheer quality and durability, along with great features you realize a nice ROI on this briefcase.
This sounds so lovely & if the leather puts Coach to shame, this MUST be exquisite!!! This will last a lifetime for you!
I didn't even know they sold briefcases for this much money!! But if it's as good as you say it is then I guess it's worth the cost, especially if it hopefully will last you your lifetime, or at least your "business" lifetime. :o) I like the idea of the expandable pocket too...I take it your husband didn't have TOO many clothes to pack in there? LOL
Oooo. Sounds really nice. I guess if it lasts, then it is worth the money...too bad I don't have it to spend right now though. I'll just have to live with my fabric wanna be briefcases :0(

I like the expandable sections on luggage, I'm sure having this feature in a briefcase would be nice too. I guess your husband already found out how nice the added space is. Saves on carrying another bag.
I have always loved Hartman products but if I were to ever spend almost 500.00 for a briefcase, it had better last me the rest of my life.
