BUZZ ALDRIN EDITION RADIO
By JOEY onI just happened to be in Radio Shack and a small radio caught my eye. The G-6 Aviator Buzz Aldrin edition. It receives am/fm/aircraft/shortwave with frequencies. It will hold 700 stations in the memory.
It is not very big about the size of a small transistor radio. (Actual size is 4.92 inchesx3inchesx1.14inches.) Actual weight is about 7.3 ounces.
The first thing that hit my mind as I turned it on was that I figured that the reception would not be very good especially in the store. Being a ham radio operator I have pretty keen ears when it comes to things like this. I actually ended up being pretty impressed with its performance for such a tiny radio.
The one thing that they could have done much better was to add a fine tuning control for single sideband to tune in the ham operators. They did fall down in this area.
I thought the performance would have to justify the price of 99.95 and I felt that it did. It comes with 3 types of scan tuning and an alarm clock built in. It also comes with a protective case, ear buds and an ac adapter. The radio runs on 2 AA batteries.
This is a pretty nice little radio for someone who wants to receive multiple bands in a tiny radio and still get pretty darn good reception.
