C1000 Micrphone By jabbr on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

For the price range, this microphone does a great job and can supply its own power via the 9v battery it has so one does not need phantom power. However, I want to share that I have other more expensive microphones such as a Neumann 184 and really want to emphasize that if someone is passionate about their recording project, they should save up and get the best microphone that they can. It all starts with the performance and the microphone is the first moment of capturing that performance. If you are just getting started and don't have a board with phantom power the C1000 is a move. However, please keep n mind that there is going to be a huge lift in sound quality when you make the move to powering more upscale mics. I waited too long in upgrading...so I can't recommend sitting with C1000 mics while digital recording is offering such tremendous sound quality at lower and lower prices....
