Calcium To Keep Me Kicking By bubblywriter on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I am allergic to dairy products, therefore, I don't get my daily intake of calcium through food. I have been taking Caltrate Plus which is calcium carbonate on the advice of my doctor. According to her, although, calcium citrate is easier to digest it is a less effective source of bone health. It has a poorer absorption level in the skeleton. Two tablets a day, 1200 mg. of elemental calcium, gives me my daily requirement for teeth and bone health. This formulation, also, contains some trace minerals along with 50 mg. of magnesium per tablet. A mineral which helps in the absorption of calcium, strengthening the bones. Vitamin D, 400mg. per tablet, another powerhouse in the fight against osteoporosis, is contained in this supplement. Since, recent reports have indicated women should increase their intake of Vitamin D as a possible protection against breast cancer, this vitamin serves a dual role.

These tablets are scored down the center if your requirements call for a smaller amount.

I feel confident when I take Caltrate Plus, I am doing all I can for optimal bone protection.

I took Caltrate for a while and then stopped. I should take it again.
