Call of Duty 4
By Michael Chen onCall of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is an FPS developped by Infinity Ward. Now, unlike previous titles, Call of Duty or COD4 as most people like to call it is not a World War 2 shooter. It is in fact based on modern times hence the name Modern Warfare.
First of all this game has amazing graphics, from the player models to the detail in the environment. From Captain Price's moustache to melons randomly lying around that explode when shot.
Secondly, the single player campaign is dope. There's actually a captivating story believe it or not and some interesting characters. The campaign takes place in plenty of russian forests and urban areas in the Middle East. You play as either Soap Mactavish with the SAS or Paul Jackson for the USMC. I won't spoil it but you'll find that it ends too soon. Seriously, it was pretty short. but whatever the campaign was still loads of fun to play. Almost as fun as MULTIPLAYER!!!!!
Finally, the best part of COD is its deep multiplayer. You start off as a private with only a few guns but as you start playing you advance through the ranks unlock more and more guns and perks which are basically the COD equivalent of skills. There 55 ranks and then prestige which restarts you but with a new badge. Obviously killing people and completing objectives give you experience but there are also challenges which give chunks of XP and weapon upgrades or camo. All of the maps are based on lvls in the main game and most of them are pretty fun. The only ones you should vote to skip are countdown, wetwork and MAYBE bog.
There are several game modes in multiplayer. Of course an FPS wouldn't be an FPS without deathmatch and its variations. There are also Search & Destroy which is basically CS, Domination where u just capture points, and my personal favorite Sabotage where there is a neutral bomb and both teams try and grab it and plant at the enemy's base. There is also ground war which is just any of the game modes except with a crapload of people and its opposite team tactical which is just 3v3. There also hardcore versions of each game mode which is just guns on steroids with no HUD and its the s#&*.
So basically, once you're done the single-player campaign you'll spend countless hours on mutliplayer and really, the multiplayer makes up for the length of the singleplayer campaign. This game is definitely a must have for both Xbox360 and PS3 owners. If you don't got it already get it!
