I love chocolate, really love chocolate. I love trying new chocolates and I enjoy my chocolates.
I was a Cadbury, Godiva and See's fan that is until I found the best chocolate I ever tasted.
It has a unusually name, Green & Black's Organic. That is right Organic chocolate!
As a family we have been trying to eat more organic and natural so when I saw this organic chocolate, I knew I had to try it. It is a little pricey. I happened to found it on sale for $2.79 for a 3.5 oz bar. Normally I have seen it run right around $3.00 all the way up to $3.99. I have tried 5 out of their 11 flavors. I tried the White Chocolate, Caramel (my 2nd favorite), Almond, Mint and Dark 70%. Each one of these I would buy again. But the one I am going to review is my favorite one to date the Dark Chocolate Mint!
I love mint, me and junior mints go way back. But after one bite of Green & Black's organic Chocolate Mint I am left thinking "what is a junior mint?" Seriously, one bite and I am hooked. This chocolate reminds me of one of those commercials where the woman is floating on a cloud because the taste is so good. Your mouth will come alive with the flavor of the chocolate and the mint!
The chocolate itself has a smooth velvety texture. The flavor is intense, but not overpowering. I recommend buying one of these and the first thing is break off a piece. Just the snap of the chocolate lets you know it is a good chocolate.
The center is a soft peppermint. It is a mouth watering peppermint flavor. It is a strong peppermint flavor but not overpowering at all. In fact the dark chocolate and peppermint center complement each other very well.
The best way to enjoy this chocolate is not to bite it but to let it melt on your tongue. Your taste buds will come alive.
The ingredients in the Dark Chocolate Mint bar are as followed:
Organic Chocolate liquor, Organic Raw Cane Sugar, Organic fat reduced cocoa powder, organic wheat syrup, organic Invert syrup, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Peppermint oil and Organic Vanilla Extract.
I love it because the ingredients are simple and no fake sugars or other chemicals!
If you love chocolate do yourself a favor and buy yourself a treat, try Green & Black's Organic chocolate! If you don't like Mint, they have many other flavors. My 2nd favorite flavor is the caramel!
These are usually found in the Natural Foods section in your grocery store, although I recently seen them at Target in the specialty large chocolate bar area.
The only con I can think of is the price, but to me that isn't even a con. You truly get what you pay for with this chocolate! It is worth every penny and then some.
A small warning though, eating this and you will never look at a Hershey bar ever the same way!

OMG I could taste this as I was reading it. I LOVE chocolate, especially chocolate and peppermint. YUM!!!! Now I have to find these:) I'm a See's peppermint patty addict from childhood, but these look like they might be a serious contender for 1st place on my list. I'm totally committed to organic buying, so this is a big fat plus in my book.
I've actually tried this... found some on a markdown table for about $2 for the bar you describe. Yup... it was great! Saw it at full price at the natural food store... but I'll appreciate it so much more if I wait till I find one marked down again.
I have never seen this bar before and now godsh do I have a craving for it now...I need this candy bar!
I saw this at Target the other day. I will have to give it a try, I also like Junior Mints.
My mouth is watering... I've never heard of this brand but will be on the lookout for it!
I really do not care for the chocolate and mint mixture as it ruins the taste of the chocolate, imo. haha! This chocolate does sound really good though and I will look for it in a high cocoa content in hopes of finding one really low in sugar. Thanks for the tip!
I have eaten and enjoyed this brand. It has a good range of organic chocolate bars for all tastes .
