Cancun, Mexico
By Tink onI traveled to Cancun, Mexico with my husband. We booked some activities prior to our arrival which is a smart thing to do since many of the tours fill up quickly. We took a tour to Chichen Itza to see the ancient ruins and pyramids. We went to Xel-ha where we spent the day swimming and snorkeling. My favorite place we visited was Xcaret. We had booked their dolphin swim experience in advance. It was a good thing we did because it was sold out when we arrived at the park. We got to swim with the dolphins and actually touch them.At the end of the program we each took a turn being propelled into the air by the nose of the dolphin pushing against our feet.
We also hired a cab driver to take us around Cancun. He said that there was a bull fight happening that day and he told us that we should check it out. We got to the arena and were offered seat cushions. They aren't free! You are renting them not buying them, after the bullfight you must return them. It was very hot in the sun that day and they took a hose and squirted water at the crowds. This was funny at first and then some people seemed to be irritated with it.It was a good way to cool off I thought! At the end of the bullfight the bull was killed and taken out of the arena. We were told by our taxi driver that they donate the meat. What an experience that was!
We asked some local young people where a happening place would be in the evenings. It didn't take long for them to tell us the hottest nightclubs in Cancun! There are quite a few nightclubs within walking distance of most hotels. We were given the suggestion of taking a Party Hopper Tour. This is a 7 hour open bar tour of three popular nightclubs. We started our evening at 9pm at the Congo Bar.The highlight of this bar was the congo players and the dancers! Next we were taken to Senor Frogs. This was an awesome place full of hiphop music and fantastic tropical drinks.Midnight was another surprise! We went to the Coco Bongo, but unlike Cinderella, we stayed well after midnight to party. There was a great show inside this final nightclub.Acrobats, big screen televisions and dancing! This was a great way to end our night, even though it was 2:30am the next day!
Our visit to Cancun, Mexico was a visit to historical places and a great party to say goodbye to a week we will never forget!
Highly recommended.

Sweet Deal.....I thought Cancun was just drinking and partying all day and night, this sounds very interesting and alot of fun! Thanks for the info...
Shoulda went when I had the chance with the family back when I was a teenager.
We were suppose to go for our honeymoon, maybe this year :P
Nice report! Cancun was also a honeymoon choice for us, but we chose Maui in the end. Still want to go to Cancun, though.
Ahhh,,,,nice, sunny Cancun! Brings back memories for me-thank you!!!
Sounds like you had a great time! We went to Acapulco a few years back and had a lot of fun there. Will have to try Cancun.
we really want to go to Cancun someday :)
I love Xcaret too! We didn't do the dolphin swim, but we did the swim where you go through caverns and the mangrove swamp. I'm so glad we did that before we saw the GIANT spider hanging around! That bar hopper tour was super fun too!! I'd go again, but NOT in September...too hot and humid!!
Sounds like you had a great trip! I've been to Cancun but did stay long enough to do many of the things you did (I did make it to Senor Frog's though LOL)
I really want to see the pyramids in Mexico. Especially, in Palenque. But I hear it is hard to travel to Palenque.
