Canon Pixma I P1980 Printer By Crissy Taruc on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I felt sad when hubby told me that he cannot resolve the trouble of our kind of old printer, EPSON Stylus C20SX. It's been with us for almost a decade already and I'm sure I will miss it. When hubby and I decided to buy a new one, I requested him to look for a simple printer (we already had multi-functional Brother) just like our EPSON. We will be using it primarily for our kids' school works and some occasional personal printing jobs. After attending a birthday party of one of my nieces we hurried to computer stores and made a canvass. We found this CANON Pixma iP1980 practical, economical and the one most similar to our old EPSON. I'm a bit annoyed in following complicated instructions so when I saw the demonstration of the unit we decided to buy it. Although it looks different in color and appearance from our old EPSON, the printing procedures are almost similar. It uses 2 cartridges, Black & Colored, and has 2 buttons - 1 for the power and the other for paper jam. In the physical appearance, the only thing I looked for it is the bottom paper tray to catch the print outs but it does not have it.

I like their warranty promo wherein if you will buy additional 1 cartridge, either black or colored, the warranty is extended to 3 years. Aside from that we will receive a Php500.00 gift certificate from National Bookstore, discount from Tobi and a pencil case via home delivery. We don't have our second thought on the offer since the cost of a cartridge is pretty much the same cost of the freebies so we go for it. Repair is available to any Octagon Branches in all SM branches.

I need a printer but I've never heard of this brand.. I'll do more research on it

Canon's a pretty good brand for printers. They are durable than Lexmark and give sharper images.

Hi, my friend have this printer. It is good. the problem is that sometimes it will not be able to detect the cartridge. Maybe my friend is not installing the driver properly.
