Canon Powershot Sd1000 By agaetis on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Canon SD1000 is part of Canon's point-and-shoot line, and it lives up to the expectations that come with a Canon camera. The camera has a resolution of 7.1 megapixels, an optical zoom of 3x and digital zoon of 12x.

The resolution might seems smallfairly small compared to the 12 megapixel cameras some companies are pumping out, but 99% of the time the average user won't need anything near that much. The current trend in the camera industry is to make the camera with the highest resolution, hoping that customers will be drawn the the high number instead of focusing on the other, more important features. The SD1000 produces great pictures with accurate colors, not too war or too cold. There are plenty of settings that allow novice users to still take great pictures no matter the shooting conditions. The camera also has a video setting, which is great for the size and price of the camera.

Despite all the great things about this camera, there are still some minor flaws. One is the optical zoom, which is average for it's size, but leaves plenty to be wanted. The other thing is the lack of shake reduction, which can be very helpful while shooting in low light conditions.

Overall, this is a great camera that is both tiny and stylish. If you're looking for a day to day camera, this is definitely a good choice.
