Canon Selphy Photo Printer By verbiosa on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I'm a big fan of Canon products, but this printer was a disappointment. I purchased it for convenience, ease-of-use and quality ... but without the quality, it was a wasted investment.

Granted, when I purchased the Selphy, I was already using a photo-quality printer, the PIXMA iP5000, which I have reviewed here. I bought this for the convenience of portability, and expected the same level of quality. It didn't print photos as well as the iP5000. They were either too light or too dark, no matter what I did with the printer's settings.

It was extremely easy to take around, set up, and connect straight to my Canon PowerShot in order to print. All in all though, it was kind of a hassle. If you need printable photos on the go, look at a different model - or perhaps, invest in a Polaroid instant camera.

Good information. I'll be sure to steer clear

Thanks for the honest information. Some times quality does not come cheap. This is one product I will stay away from.

What a disappointment! Even at the cheaper price why Canon would even bother to make such a product is beyond me. I had been looking for a portable printer but I wasn't able to find one that was rated very well. If you do find one, please let us know!
