Cascade Dishwasher Detergent Powder By lauregirl on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

I have always purchased Cascade dishwasher detergent, a habit formed shopping with my mother as a child. My mother would not buy any generics, she always had to buy the best. I have carried on the tradition and my daughter has now taken up the torch too for brand labels. Cascade products out number all other brands due to the many selections you can choose from. I have tried other Cascade dishwasher detergents, but I have found the powder works best in my dishwasher. I live in an area where we have hard water and the powder, rather than gel packs or liquids, dissolve and clean better. The Cascade I purchased has a fresh scent, this actually smells a lot like bleach to me. The smell is okay by me, cause bleach smells clean and fresh and I feel the dishes have been disinfected. I like that Proctor and Gamble cares about the environment, the Cascade comes packaged in a recycled paper box. I also add a cup of vinegar once a week to the last rinse of the dishwasher, because the dishwasher has an occasional build-up of residue from the powder and the glasses have spots and cloudiness. The vinegar neutralizes the water and reduces the spotsof the glasses and dishes. I realize that the hard water causes this problem, not the Cascade dishwasher detergent, it works great and I recommend this product.
