Castrol Gtx Motor Oil By JOEY on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

I first started using Castrol motor oil many years ago back in 1978. It was a good oil then and still works great today. I had a vehicle back then that would burn a 1/2 quart of oil every 2,000 miles. I switched to Castrol motor oil and it stopped burning. It made me realize that all oils were not created equal. I personally in this day and age prefer a synthetic oil but at 5 dollars per quart many would find that cost prohibitive. Castro Gtx non-synthetic oils is a nice compromise and a very good quality of oil from my experience. I used to use it back in 1978 in my Datsun 810. I have friends that still use it today and my brother does as well. Castrol has a good overall reputation when it comes to auto products. I even use it in my lawn mower with good results.

It is good depending on your car and mileage. We've had cars that performed better after using Castrol GTX, and some that didn't.

I used to use GTX in my motorcycles and always had great performance. I use Amsoil now, but would recommend GTX as a great alternative.
