Catherine Wheel Chrome By Tony on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Chrome by Catherine Wheel was released in 1993 and has 12 tracks. Catherine Wheel never achieved major success, but they were a pioneering band in the popular "shoegazing" genre of the early 1990s in the UK.

Chrome is one of Catherine Wheel's stronger albums. It has elements of big guitar sounds along with elegant melodies and shimmering vocals. Many songs have a "wall of sound" type feel to it and there is almost always elements of an organ in the songs.

Some key tracks are "Pain", "Crank", and "Show Me Mary." Many of these songs have infectious hooks and can't seem to get out of your head after a couple of listens.

I absolutely adore this band and it is a shame they never receive the credit they deserved as an inventive band that constantly made great albums. For anyone looking to go back in time and listen to some truly great music, I highly recommend Chrome by Catherine Wheel.
