I have been using Cel-Sorb for all my small animal and bird bedding for years. It is a very durable pet bedding made from recycled, compressed paper. It is absorbant and also does not promote odors.

Cel-sorb is a medium-hard pellet, is very low dust, and is large enough that small animals will not be able to eat it. It is great at absorbing liquid waste without breaking down. It does not clump, but it is easy to remove solid waste with your daily/weekly cleaning. Depending on how you use it, it might only require a full change once a month if that!

Cel-sorb is currently in use in my home for my birds, rabbit, and rats. I have used it also with other small animals (hedgehogs, gerbils, and even temporarily for reptile bedding). It is not a scented product, but has a clean, dry smell to it. It is sold in small bags, but large "bulk size" bags of up to 30 lbs are also available at most pet stores.
