Ceramic Heater By autumnleaves on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I live in a small 2 bedroom, 1 bath well insulated brick home. We have a propane space heater that I am scared to leave on while we are not at home. Since I recently had a precious baby boy I did not want us coming home to a cold house. So we purchased this safe ceramic heater. It is approximately 1.5 feet long, 2.5 feet tall, and 10 inches wide. The heater doesn't take up that much space. It is gray, black, and silver. It is actually made out of a hard plastic so it doesnt get to hot to the touch. Great with kids around.
I like the heater because it has a digital display of the cuurent temp in the house. Shows what temp the heater is set on. It has a timer that you can set the heater on. There is a lever where you can adjust the direction of the heated air. Also has an ionizer for the air.
This small heater keeps my small house warm enough so that when I get home at night I can get the baby ready for bed rather than having to wait on the propane heater to heat up the house. I think the heater is very efficient at doing it's job in my small home. If you have a much larger space to warm you would need something bigger or more than one which is what my relatives have done for their home.
We have seen a small increase in the electricity bill approximately $15-$20. However it is worth it to me to feel like my home is safe from a fire related to the heaters.
Lasko #5840 Air Ceramic Heater Purchased at: Sams Club Price: $69-$79

Good to know that they will work in a small space. Portable heaters can be such a safety concern, so this looks good!
This sounds like a great product. I also have a baby and don't like to keep my house heated when we are not at home. I think I might have to look into this! Thanks for the heads up!
This sounds like a great heater. My kids rooms are the only things upstairs in our house and it gets cold up there. This may be just what we need.
sounds like a very good investment. other kinds of heaters can be worrisome for sure.
We purchased a few small ceramic heaters as back up and for bathrooms..I dont care how good your heater is or how well your house is insulated it is always the coldest room in the house when you bathe in the winter, lmao!!
It sounds like a good product. Thank you for sharing your opionions on it. Good detail.
This Lasko heater sounds like a nice one! I wanted to get a heater for my sons room because for some reason the heat does not circulate well enough to his room, which can get too cool for his liking. The thing is that he lives like a college student - everything everywhere and I am afraid that a heater would cause a fire situation. I am not sure if this would be the fix, but it is nice to know that there are some safer heaters out there to be had.
