Charmin Basic Bathroom Tissue By Karen on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
On my last trip to Walmart for bathroom tissue, I couldn't find my favorite brand in stock. I like Charmin Ultra Soft, but alas, there were none to be found. So I decided to try Charmin Basic. I thought that if I liked the Charmin Ultra Soft, the Basic would be OK too.
Well, I really don't like it very much, and my husband agrees with me. I have the 12 big roll pack for $5.22, and the tissue is not as good as the Ultra Soft that I like so much. The tissue itself is thinner and not as absorbent. It falls apart more easily. I guess that's why they call is Basic.
This tissue does have the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, and it isn't bad, I just have been spoiled by the Ultra Soft and have not been able to find anything else that compares, in my eyes. For basic bathroom tissue, it is OK, but I will be glad when I'm finished with it and can go back to my Ultra Soft. Hopefully, when I need bathroom tissue again, Walmart will not be out of my brand. When they are out of it is the only time I find myself purchasing something else, out of necessity.

I usually purchase Kroger brand TP, but when my mother-in-law visited, she blessed us with a mega pack from Sams Club of Charmin Ultra Soft - WOW - I never thought there could be so much of a difference. I think the basic would actually be better than the Kroger, even if it's not as good as the Ultra Soft :-) Thanks for sharing.
